74-Year-Old Man Critically Injured by Car in Ocean Hill, NYPD Says

By Aidan Gardiner | August 17, 2017 9:40am

BROOKLYN — A 74-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries when a driver hit him in a notoriously dangerous Ocean Hill intersection Thursday morning, police said.

The man had been crossing the street at Atlantic and Rockaway avenues when the car hit him about 5:20 a.m., NYPD officials said.

He was taken to Interfaith Medical Center where he's listed in critical condition, police said.

Police didn't immediately provide information about the car's driver or if the driver was arrested.

Police said their investigation continues.

The man was struck at the same intersection where an 81-year-old woman was fatally struck on March 16 of this year and another person was fatally struck there in 2016, the city's Vision Zero data shows.

Between 2009 and 2015, 15 pedestrians were injured by drivers at that intersection, data shows.
