BROOKLYN — A thief stole an empty milk crate from an East New York grocery store and then used it to smack a worker trying to stop him, police said.

The 59-year-old employee suffered a cut to his left eye in the July 15 incident outside the Elton Mini Market on New Lots Avenue near Elton Street, according to the NYPD and video of the attack.

The victim didn't require any medical attention.

The thief is believed to be in his 20s and was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt, ripped blue jeans and white sneakers. He was also wearing a a blue “KC” baseball cap.
