72-Year-Old Man Shoots 28-Year-Old Wife in Head in The Bronx, Police Say

THE BRONX — A 72-year-old man shot his 28-year-old wife in the head Thursday morning in their Westchester Square home, police said.

Clarence White shot his estranged wife at about 8:40 a.m. inside 2157 Glebe Ave., near Lyon Avenue, after the two got into an argument, according to the NYPD and New York Daily News report.

She was rushed to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition, officials said.

Investigators recovered a firearm at the scene.

White was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal use of a firearm, a police spokesman said.

He has several prior arrests dating back to 1984, including for attempted assault, criminal possession of a controlled substance, trespassing, stolen property and criminal possession of narcotics, the spokesman added.

Police also responded to a domestic dispute at their apartment on May 24, the News reported.

White was expected to be arraigned in Brooklyn Criminal Court Thursday.
