CROWN HEIGHTS — A caretaker at a longtime Crown Heights day care was arrested this week after she was caught on camera sitting on a 3-year-old girl at the nursery, prosecutors said.

Ekaterina Silva, 35, who worked at Bambi Day Care Center at 300 Rogers Ave. in Crown Heights, was seen on surveillance video putting the 3-year-old on a bed before sitting on her and immobilizing her body by pulling her arms behind the toddler’s back on July 20, prosecutors said.

Video of the incident obtained by WABC shows Silva grabbing the child by her shirt, tossing her on a cot-like bed and swatting her bottom. She then sits on the 3-year-old’s back and keeps her in place on the cot.

The worker was arrested two days later after the child's mother reported the incident to police.

Silva has been charged with attempted assault, endangering the welfare of a child, attempted unlawful imprisonment and harassment, court documents show.

Bambi has been in business in the area for more than 30 years and employs only certified teachers, its website said. Owner Allison Reid told WABC that Silva was a temporary employee who had only been working at the day care for a week.

On Tuesday, Reid declined to answer any questions from DNAinfo New York about the arrest at the Rogers Avenue nursery.

Silva was arrested Saturday and arraigned on the charges the same day, court records show. She was released from custody on July 24 on $1,500 cash bail and is due back in court on July 28.

Her attorney could not be immediately reached.
