NYPD Civilian Employee Arrested for Robbing a Bank in Chinatown, Police Say

By Nicholas Rizzi | July 19, 2017 4:30pm

CHINATOWN — A civilian employee of the NYPD who was charged in May with stealing a co-worker's paycheck was arrested again after she robbed $1,100 from a bank, police said.

Calissa Alston, 27, walked into a Chinatown bank Tuesday and handed the teller a note demanding money, a spokesman for the NYPD said.

She walked away with more than a grand, but was eventually arrested at 5 p.m. and charged with robbery, police said.

Alston was previously arrested in May after she took another co-worker's paycheck from an NYPD facility, signed it then cashed it for herself, authorities said.

Police could not say where the facility was, but the Staten Island Advance previously reported it was inside the 121st Precinct.

Alston was on a leave of absence following that arrest and was suspended from the agency after her robbery charge, police said.
