BROOKLYN — The NYPD’s Special Victims Unit is investigating a pair of attempted sexual assaults that it says took place in Crown Heights about an hour apart early Thursday.

In the first incident, the attacker followed a 22-year-old woman to her apartment inside a building near Lincoln Place and Albany Avenue around 2:30 a.m., police said.

When she unlocked the door, he pushed her to the ground, pulled out a knife and threatened to kill her, law enforcement sources said.

He then grabbed her groin area, but she kicked him and sprayed him with mace before he fled, sources said.

About an hour later, a man followed a 32-year-old woman into an apartment building on Dean Street and Nostrand Avenue, police said.

When she got out of the elevator on the fifth floor, he came up to her from behind, put his hand over her mouth and tried to sexually assault her, sources said.

But she pushed him away and he fled. She suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention, according to police.

Police released images and surveillance footage of the suspect in both assaults. The man is shown wearing a black shirt with white lettering spelling "F-ck you, you f-cking f-ck," light blue jeans, a black baseball cap and white sneakers. In another image, he is shown wearing light colored pants and no shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
