PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS — Police are investigating the death of a woman hit by an MTA bus on Nostrand Avenue over the weekend as a possible suicide, sources said.
The woman, who was in her 30s but had not been identified as of Monday, was struck by the bus on Nostrand Avenue at Lincoln Road just before 3 p.m. on Saturday.
She was found with severe trauma to her head and body, and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The bus was traveling south on the avenue when it hit the woman, who was in the middle of the road at the time, police said.
Police sources said the incident is being investigated as a possible suicide. Witnesses said the woman was seen jumping into the path of the bus, sources said.
The bus driver remained on the scene following the incident, and an investigation by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing.
