'Get Off My Block!' Teens Aim Fireworks at NYPD Officers, Officials Say

By Nicholas Rizzi | July 5, 2017 10:51am

NEW BRIGHTON — A group of teens shot fireworks at officers Tuesday night, the NYPD said.

The officers responded to firework complaints at 18 York Ave. at about 10:15 p.m. on the Fourth of July where they found a group of teenage boys lighting them off, police said.

The boys started to shout "Get off my block" and shot the fireworks off in the direction of the officers, officials said.

The officers weren't injured, but the fireworks damaged the car of a 71-year-old woman who lives on the block, police said.

No arrests have been made. A spokesman was unable to say Wednesday morning if they caught the teens.
