STUYVESANT TOWN — A man followed a woman into the elevator of a building in Stuyvesant Town before putting his hand up her skirt and groping her, police said.

The suspect trailed the 30-year-old victim as she entered the building near the 14th Street loop around 5:40 p.m., following her into the elevator, police said.

When the elevator stopped at the second floor, the man got off, but then quickly got back on before the doors closed, according to authorities. When the elevator stopped again on the fourth floor and the victim started to exit, the man reached under her skirt and grabbed her buttocks, police said.

Police released surveillance footage of the suspect, who fled in an unknown direction. He was described as between 20 and 27-years-old, standing at 5-foot-4 and weighing 150 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, black sneakers, a white shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or for Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
