MIDTOWN EAST — A longtime Chinese restaurant on East 45th Street was closed by health inspectors this week for having mice and unsanitary conditions, authorities said.

During an inspection Monday at Shih Lee Chinese Good Eats, at 311 E. 45th St. near Second Avenue, inspectors found evidence of mice, food not being kept cold and sanitized equipment or utensils being improperly used or stored. The eatery's wiping cloths were also soiled or not stored in sanitizing solution, according to health department records.

Additionally, plumbing was not properly installed or maintained, and its sewage disposal system was in disrepair, records show.

The restaurant received 58 violation points as a result.

The eatery, which has been open for more than two decades, serves a slew of noodles, sliced meats and veggies in a number of traditional dishes like lo mein and mei fun, as well as contemporary entrees like prawns with honey walnuts and stewed curry beef.

The Health Department said it had planned to reinspect the eatery on Wednesday, and a manager said it had reopened after hiring an exterminator and cleaning up.

"We've already taken care of it," the manager said.
