Man Playing With Gun Accidentally Shoots 10-Year-Old Boy at Party, DA Says

By Nicholas Rizzi | June 19, 2017 11:12am

PRINCE'S BAY — A man playing with a loaded gun accidentally shot a 10-year-old boy at a party over the weekend, a law enforcement source said.

Semion Mosheshvili, 42, of Long Island, was at a party of a family friend at their Deisius Street home Saturday night when the owner showed Mosheshvili the licensed Glock 9mm gun in the second floor of the home, a source said.

He was unaware it was loaded at the time and accidentally fired it around 7 p.m., according to prosecutors and his lawyer, Arthur Gershfeld.

The bullet went through to the first-floor of the house and hit the boy in the shoulder, the source said.

Mosheshvili's wife took the victim to the hospital, then Mosheshvili turned himself in at the 123rd Precinct, Gershfeld said.

He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a firearm for shooting the boy, prosecutors said.

His bail was set at $10,000 bond, $5,000 cash and he's due back in court Sept. 14, according to online court records.
