By Nicholas Rizzi | June 12, 2017 12:34pm

TOTTENVILLE — A 59-year-old man died after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver Sunday, police said.

Daniel Nelson, 59, of Tottenville, was crossing the intersection of Hecker Street and Amboy Road at about 2:04 a.m. when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle, the NYPD said.

The driver of the car fled the scene, police said.

Officers found Nelson on the pavement with head trauma and he was taken to Staten Island University Hospital where he died.

This is the third serious hit-and-run crash on Staten Island in recent weeks.

On Memorial Day, a 36-year-old man was left critically injured after Dwight Scott struck him at the intersection of Targee and Frean streets and then fled, police said.

Scott, 32, was later arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an incident with serious injuries.

Also on Memorial Day, Monique Knight, 37, was critically injured after she was sideswiped by a driver in St. George while she was reaching into her car's backseat to get a child.

There had not been any arrests in the crash as of Monday, police said.
