Hammer-Wielding Neighbor Threatens Dad Over Noisy Toddler

PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS — A 34-year-old dad reported to police this week that his downstairs neighbor threatened him with a hammer because his 2-year-old daughter was making too much noise, police said.

The man said his neighbor came up to him, carrying a hammer, as he was taking out the trash at 9:30 p.m. on June 5, and threatened to hit him if his daughter kept making noise.

No one was injured during the incident on Rogers Avenue near Winthrop Street. Police said the victim ultimately did not want to press charges against the neighbor and no arrest has been made.

Other notable incidents in this week’s blotter from the 71st Precinct in Crown Heights, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens and East Flatbush include:​​​​​

► Burglars stole $10,000 in cash, $1,000 in cigarettes and lottery tickets from a Rogers Avenue deli on May 31, police said. The suspect or suspects broke into a rear wall of 636 Rogers Ave., bypassed the alarm, removed the store’s security system and made off with the cash, cigarettes and lotto tickets. The burglars also damaged the lottery register in the break-in. No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.

► A 34-year-old man was arrested at a Sterling Street apartment after police visiting the home looking for a fugitive from New Jersey found a stash of drugs and drugs paraphernalia. When the officer arrived at 7 a.m. on June 1, several large bags of marijuana were in plain view in the living room, plastic bags and scales were on the dining room table and marijuana and cocaine were in the bedroom. Sean Gallimore, 34, was taken into custody and has been charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of illegal substances, court records show. He is being held with out bail and is due back in court on June 29. His legal representative from the Legal Aid Society could not immediately be reached for comment on the case.

► A 17-year-old girl was attacked with bleach by a female classmate inside a Crown Street apartment building, police said. The suspect, also 17, approached the teen inside the building near Washington Avenue at 4:50 p.m. on June 1 and threw bleach in her face and on her clothing. The girl had eye irritation but was otherwise uninjured. The female suspect has not yet been arrested.

► Two people were arrested at a Rutland Road home after police executed a search warrant and found two guns, drugs and credit card forgery equipment during the raid. Lakeisha Boynton, 46, and Kaliq Small, 25, have been charged with multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a forgery device after the June 2 raid in which police found a .40 caliber black handgun, a 9MM firearm, ammunition, a credit card embosser, forged credit cards and a large quantity of marijuana. Boynton was charged, released without bail and is due back in court on December 29. Small is being held on $20,000 bail and is also due back on December 29, court records show. Their legal representatives could not be reached for comment.
