CRIME BLOTTER: Teen Robbed of $200 Chicago Bulls Cap on Eastern Parkway

CROWN HEIGHTS — A 17-year-old was robbed of a Chicago Bulls cap by a man who had agreed online to buy the hat for $200.

The teenager met the potential buyer at the corner of Eastern Parkway and Utica Avenue at 3:50 p.m. on May 27, police said.

When the two met, the man grabbed the Just Don brand hat from the teen and fled south on Utica Avenue on foot. When the 17-year-old chased the thief, the suspect punched him and continued to flee.

The teen was not seriously injured in the robbery. The suspect has not yet been arrested.

Other notable crimes in this week’s blotter from the 71st Precinct in Crown Heights, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens and East Flatbush include:​​​​​

► A 28-year-old woman reported to police that a man ripped her purse from her at gunpoint while she walked on Clarkson Avenue on May 24. The woman was walking west on the avenue near New York Avenue at 1:30 p.m. when the suspect snatched her bag. The woman tried to grab it back, but the man lifted his shirt to show a black handgun, then took the bag and fled north on foot. The woman was uninjured in the mugging, police said. There has been no arrest.

► A 67-year-old man reported that four wheels were stolen from his Honda Accord while it was parked outside a Carroll Street home between Brooklyn and Kingston avenues on May 24, police said. The man discovered the theft at approximately 6 p.m. The wheels were worth $1,200, police said.

► A 64-year-old man was pushed to the ground and robbed of his watch and $45 on Sterling Street on May 28, police said. The victim was walking near New York Avenue when the unknown suspect came up behind him, pushed him to the ground and demanded cash, saying, “If you don’t give me money, I would kill you.” The suspect then reached into the victim’s pocket and removed $45 and the man’s Timex watch. The man was uninjured during the mugging, police said.

► A 17-year-old boy was robbed of his cellphone and $35 as he walked home from school on May 30. Police said the teen was walking on Winthrop Street between Bedford and Rogers avenues at about 6 p.m. when an unknown suspect came up to him and said, “Give me the phone. I can shoot you if I want.” The suspect then grabbed the One Plus phone and cash before fleeing southbound on Rogers Avenue. No weapon was displayed during the robbery and no suspect has been identified, according to police.
