STATEN ISLAND — A man assaulted and stabbed his wife while a child was in the house Monday afternoon, officials said.

Jonathan Santucci, 27, grabbed his wife's throat, stuck his finger in her eye and then stabbed her in the back with a kitchen knife inside their home at Arthur Kill Road near Cody Place at about 1:46 p.m., NYPD and FDNY officials said.

His wife was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital and was expected to survive, officials added.

Santucci was arrested at scene and is facing charges including assault and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

It was not immediately clear how old the child is and if there is a history of domestic violence with the couple.
