HARLEM— The growing retail landscape on 125th Street will house yet another high-profile tenant.

Blick Art Materials is slated to set up shop this fall at 261 W. 125th St. near Frederick Douglass Boulevard, nestled near the iconic Apollo Theater and clothing retailer Banana Republic, according to a company release.

The Illinois-based art supplier has 65 retail locations across the country and plans to be the one-stop-shop for artists and other creatives in the neighborhood.

The retailer is also joining a chorus of high-profile retailers which have opened or are slated to open in the neighborhood, transforming the neighborhood’s commercial corridor.

Victoria’s Secret and Bath and Body Works, both of which are owned by L Brands, have plans to open at the 112 W. 125 St. shopping center. The center is also currently housing a new Olive Garden restaurant and Burlington Coat Factory and a planned Whole Foods set to open this summer.

The news also comes in the wake of news that the nearby iconic Lenox Lounge will be demolished to make way for an undisclosed 15,000 square foot retail location.

“The Blick team is excited to be a part of Harlem’s growth, and we look forward to being the neighborhood’s premier source of art materials,” said Bart Veghts, the company’s vice president of retail operations, in a statement.

The store plans to bring 20 jobs to the neighborhood. During the grand opening this fall the company plans to have product giveaways for new customers, the company said in a release.
