GRAMERCY — A man wanted for two instances of forcible touching in Williamsburg was arrested in the Third Avenue subway station last week after one of his victims spotted him in the subway — but he first tried to flee his arrest by leaping onto the tracks and running into the train tunnel, police said.

Jose Vijay, 32, was spotted by a former victim on the L train April 18 at around 6:46 p.m., at which point police were notified, according to a police report.

Vijay was positively identified as the man who had rubbed his genitals against the victim in Williamsburg and was being held by transit police when he leapt onto the tracks and attempted to flee into the tunnel, according to police and court records.

Transit police saw Vijay moving between the tracks as a train pulled into the station, according to police and court records.

Vijay was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment and criminal trespassing for leaping onto the tracks, court records show.

He was also charged with forcible touching, sex abuse, and harassment for two past incidents that occurred in Williamsbrug in January and March.

Vijay had approached a victim on Jan. 13 at around 8:20 a.m  from behind in the Grand Street subway station and rubbed his genitals on the victim's thighs and butt, according to a criminal complaint.

He then approached another victim from behind on March 20 at around 8:50 a.m. near the intersection of Metropolitan and Graham avenues and rubbed his genitals on the victim's butt, the complaint states.

He is currently being held at Rikers Island jail on $8,500 bail, Department of Correction records show. He is due back in court May 9.

Vijay's Brooklyn Defender Services attorney declined to comment when reached by phone.
