QUEENS — A Maine man was busted twice in as many days for trying to bring weapons, including throwing stars and an air gun, onto flights at LaGuardia Airport, according to the Port Authority.

Michael A. Rios Jr., 25, was heading back to his home state on April 21 when he was arrested at an airport screening area after officers found a gravity knife and metal knuckles in his carry-on bag, officials said.

The Bangor resident then returned the following morning and screeners again found weapons in his checked luggage, including an air pistol, six knives and a throwing star.

"I collect these items, and I am bringing them back home to Maine," Rios Jr. told a Port Authority officer after the weapons were discovered, according to court documents.

He was rearrested and charged with misdemeanor weapons possession, according to court documents. Rios Jr. was held on $500 bail and is due back in court on June 8.

Attorney information for the Maine resident was not immediately available.
