Thieves Strike at Harlem Work Site for Second Time in Month, NYPD Says

By Dartunorro Clark | April 11, 2017 4:14pm

EAST HARLEM — Thieves targeted a local construction site for the second time in the past three weeks, swiping more than $4,000 in tools during the most recent burglary, police said.

A worker from Galaxy General Construction told police when he tried to unlock the door to the construction facility at 433 E. 115th St. on April 3 around 6 p.m. when the door fell forward because its hinges had been removed.

When the worker and a manager walked into the site, they discovered that $4,470 worth of tools had been stolen, including a pipe cutter, a threading machine and socket wrench set, among other items.

On March 18, a worker discovered a slew of power tools had been taken from the site, including two jackhammers, a screw gun, a laser gun, a demolition hammer, a saw and two grinders totaling $7,514, police said.

A representative for Galaxy General Construction could not be reached for comment.

There had been no arrests as of Monday.
