MIDTOWN EAST — A woman is trying to bring her would-be purse snatcher to justice after fighting him off on an E train — then snapping his photo when she spotted him on the train again days later, police said.

The victim, a 58-year-old woman, was headed toward Queens on an E train at about 5 a.m. on March 10, when the attacker came up to her and demanded her purse, police said.

When she refused, the man tried to yank it away from her, but she managed to hold onto it, and he fled the train when it stopped at Lexington Avenue, according to police.

Some days later, while the woman rode another early-morning E train at about 5 a.m., she spotted the aspiring thief snoozing on the train and snapped a picture of him, police said.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit tips on the website.
