MOTT HAVEN — An oil truck struck and killed a woman walking across Bruckner Boulevard on Thursday morning, police said.

Danielle Leathers, 49, was crossing against the light at Bruckner Boulevard and East 138th Street just before noon when a driver for the Approved Oil Company hit her while heading south, NYPD officials said.

"She flew about two feet," said Elaine Hernandez, a witness. "She moved a little bit and that was it."

Leathers, who lived nearby on Willow Avenue, was pronounced dead at Lincoln Medical Center, officials and witnesses said. Both of her legs had been amputated by the crash, they said.

"It was horrible. It happened so fast. I've never seen anything like that in my life," Hernandez said.

The truck's driver, whose identity wasn't immediately released, remained at the scene, police said. Representatives for Approved Oil Company, which is based in Bay Ridge, declined to comment.

Police are still investigating the incident, they said.
