By Katie Honan | March 2, 2017 3:58pm

ELMHURST — He was not Winning.

A would-be burglar who tried to break into a local watering hole through the exhaust vent got arrested after becoming trapped inside the vent, police said.

George Romero, 26, smashed the exhaust vent cap outside of Winners Bar at 82-67 Broadway some time after the bar closed early Thursday, and clambered inside in an attempt to gain entry to the corner bar, police said.

But his plans to burglarize the bar were thwarted after he got stuck inside the vent, the commander of the 110th Precinct wrote on Twitter.

Romero was found inside the vent at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, police said. They did not say who found him.

He was arrested at the scene and expected to be arraigned on charges of third-degree burglary and criminal mischief, police said.
