THE BRONX — A mugging victim tried to catch his attacker who threw a paint bucket at him in Saturday morning after coming up empty handed, NYPD officials said.

The 23-year-old man was walking past 1449 Overing St. near Frisby Avenue in Westchester Square, about 1:40 a.m. when another man tried to rob him while another suspect acted as a lookout, police said.

The victim said he didn't have anything to give the suspect so the would-be mugger threw a paint bucket at him, police said.

The victim yelled for help and three good Samaritans came and tried to help him restrain the suspects, police said.
