ROSSVILE — A woman was fatally struck by a pickup truck while crossing the street, police said.
Peggy Diaz, 52, of New Brighton, was crossing Gervil Street and Corell Avenue in Staten Island at 4:08 p.m. Monday when she was struck by a 2011 Ford F250 driven, the NYPD said.
A 21-year-old man was driving the blue pickup truck on Correll Avenue when he made a left turn onto Gervil Street and struck Diaz with his front bumper as she walked in the marked crosswalk, police said.
Diaz was taken to Staten Island University Hospital North where she was pronounced dead.
The driver remained on the scene. No arrests had been made as of Tuesday, police said.
