CORONA — A man who was beaten up and left on the roadway after a minor traffic collision on the Grand Central Parkway inside Flushing Meadows-Corona Park was fatally run over by another driver early Saturday, police said.

Hassan Jones, 28, of Ozone Park, was a passenger in a black Infiniti that was involved in a minor accident with another car on the Grand Central Parkway near 49th Avenue inside the park some time before 4 a.m Saturday, police said.

Both cars pulled over to the side of the highway and the drivers and passengers got out and began fighting, police said. Jones was knocked down onto the street during the melee and both drivers sped off and left him behind, police said.

It's unclear how many people were in each car.

As Jones lay beaten on the parkway, he was run over by the driver of another car, Starlyn-Antonio Colon Burgos, 19, police said.

Colon Burgos, of Corona, also struck another car before getting out and fleeing on foot. He was later arrested for leaving the scene of an accident, police said.

Police declared Jones dead at the scene at approximately 4:20 a.m.

Police are now looking for the drivers of the cars involved in the earlier crash.
