Where To Watch the Oscars in New York City

Who needs Hollywood when you have the Big Apple?

Whether you're looking to dress to the nines for the red carpet or show off your cinephile knowledge with a pre-show quiz, there's an Academy Awards watch party for you on Sunday, Feb. 26. (The official broadcast kicks off at 7 p.m., but some of these parties get underway early, so be sure to check their times.)

From free to luxe, here's a look at where you can watch the Oscars in New York City:

The Big Oscars Quiz Thing

Where: (Le) Poisson Rouge, 158 Bleecker St., Greenwich Village
When: Pre-show quiz at 5:30 p.m.; red carpet viewing at 7 p.m.

The event is back for its fifth Academy Awards pre-show. Get a team together and test your knowledge with quizmaster Andy Peeke for the chance to win prizes. Then you can stick around to watch the red carpet and awards ceremony. Tickets are $10 for preorder and $15 at the door.

 Oscars Viewing Party

Where: Village Pourhouse, 64 3rd Ave., East Village
When: Open bar from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The $40 open bar at this East Village bar with 20 flat screen TVs will serve wine, Bud Light drafts, and well cocktails. An online RSVP scores you a free drink. If you get hungry, the menu offers the establishment's signature snack, pretzel-crusted chicken tenders, as well as burgers and sandwiches.

Free Academy Awards Screening

Where: Littlefield, 622 Degraw St., Gowanus
When: 7 to 11:59 p.m. (doors open at 6:45 p.m.)

The Skint is hosting a party with drink specials, voting ballots and as much popcorn as you can chow down on during the show. Guests are encouraged to don their best red carpet fashions. An RSVP doesn't guarantee entry, but it will land you a glass of free champagne if you get inside. 

5th Annual Hypno-Tronic Comics Oscar Party

Where: Jimmie Steiny's Pub, 5 Hyatt St., St. George
When: 7:30 to midnight

Get in on a $10 Oscar pool organized by the comic book shop and make your best guesses to win the pot. Second prize will go home with a Hypno-Tronic Comics gift basket valued at $100.

89th Academy Awards at Syndicated

Where: Syndicated, 40 Bogart St., East Williamsburg
When: 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.

Enjoy cocktails and an Oscar-prediction contest with prizes at this combo movie theater and restaurant. Snag a $10 seat in the dining room, $15 for a spot in the theater, or a VIP booth that can seat five people for $150. The VIP option gets you a bottle of champagne and snacks. If you don't feel like paying, you can also snag a seat at the bar for free.

► Oscars Viewing Party at The Roof

Where: The Roof, 124 West 57th Street, Midtown
When: 6:30 to 11 p.m.

For ladies who want the Red Carpet treatment, this lounge atop the Viceroy Hotel is offering not only discounted Oscar-themed cocktails and complimentary popcorn, but free polish changes and braids from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Visitors who fill out ballots with their Oscars predictions will be entered into a lottery awarding the winner with a spinning class package. Tickets are free, but limited. 

► Videology Presents the 89th Academy Awards

Where: Videology, 308 Bedford Ave., Williamsburg
When: starts 5:30 p.m.

This indie micro-cinema in Williamsburg will open doors to its 40-seat screening room at 5:30 p.m., but you can also watch the awards show in the bar.

Berg'n Oscars Night Viewing Party

Where: Berg'n, 899 Bergen St. Crown Heights
When: 7 to 11 p.m.

Grab a seat at a long table to watch the awards show on the food hall's 15-foot projection screen. Drink specials will be served.

► The Oscars Viewing Party!

Where: Albatross Bar, 3619 24th Ave., Astoria
When: 7 p.m. to midnight

There's no obligation to get gussied up for this party, but if you wear your best, you'll be rewarded with a free shot. The bar will serve Oscar-themed drink Specials and tons of champagne. Ballots will be handed out at the start of the show, with prizes going to those who make the most accurate predictions. 

► Stella & Dot Pop-Up Show at KRVC's Oscar Party

Where: KRVC Development Corp., 505 West 236th St., Kingsbridge
When: 7 to 10 p.m.

This Oscars' event, a combination screening-and-pop-up show for the accessories company Stella & Dot, promises "fizz, friends, giveways and fabulousness." Fancy attire is requested, and registration is free.
