CONCOURSE — Police have arrested a man in the South Bronx subway push that cost the victim his lower left leg, according to the NYPD.

Alberto Pena, 34, got into a fight with a 43-year-old man on Wednesday at the northbound platform of the subway station by 170th Street and Grand Concourse in The Bronx and shoved him onto the tracks as a B train was pulling into the station, police said.

The victim survived being hit by the train, although his left leg was partially severed and later amputated below the knee, according to the NYPD.

Pena was arrested on Friday at 7 p.m. and charged with attempted murder and assault, police said.

He has been arrested 13 times before, mainly on drug charges, according to the NYPD.

Pena has been taken to Bellevue Hospital, and his arraignment is still pending, according to the Bronx District Attorney's Office.
