Ex-Con Stabs His Family Before Fatally Shooting Himself, NYPD Says

By Aidan Gardiner | January 19, 2017 11:40am

QUEENS — A convicted murderer stabbed two relatives — a teenage boy and a woman — before fatally shooting himself in their Laurelton home Wednesday night, NYPD officials said.

Sukele Lewis, 46, stabbed a 36-year-old woman in the face, back and thigh before stabbing a 17-year-old boy in the right shoulder in their 227th Street home near 135th Avenue about 11:30 p.m., an NYPD spokesman said.

Lewis, who was convicted of murder in 1988, had been holding the two hostage along with a 4-year-old boy, officials said.

He was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital after shooting himself, police said.

The two victims were treated at the same hospital for injuries that weren't considered life-threatening, police said.

The younger boy wasn't injured, police said.

Lewis went to prison in 1988 but was paroled in 2001, prison records show.

The circumstances of the murder weren't immediately clear.
