Group of 20 Teens Attack, Rob 17-Year-Old Girl in Boerum Hill, Police Say

BOERUM HILL — A group of 20 teens punched and dragged a 17-year-old girl before robbing her as she was walking home along Fourth Avenue, police said.

The girl was walking around 7 p.m. on Jan. 12 when the teens surrounded her in front of 88A Fourth Ave., according to a police report.

The teens punched her in the face and in the back of her head, then knocked her to the ground, police said.

They then dragged her across the ground and stole her Samsung Galaxy cellphone and Apple headphones, police said.

The teens ran toward the Atlantic Terminal station, dropping the cellphone on their way, police said.

The girl suffered cuts and bruising to her face and lower back, according to police. 

No arrests have been made.

► A man stole a cellphone, $100 in cash, a car key and 25 pounds of food at gunpoint from another man sitting in his car outside the Farragut Houses around 8 p.m. on Jan. 13, police said. The suspect had approached the man while the victim was sitting in his car and asked him for a lighter. When the man said he didn’t have one, the suspect forced himself into his car and robbed him, police said. It was not clear what type of food was stolen. 

► A burglar stole a $25,000 engagement ring from a woman’s apartment at Dean and Nevins streets around 7 p.m. on Jan. 9 after breaking in through a third-floor window, police said.

► A burglar took $4,720 in electronics and accessories from an apartment on Monroe Place, between Clark and Pierrepont streets, while its 24-year-old resident was away on vacation sometime between 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 28. and 6 p.m. on Dec. 29, police said. The 84th Precinct has seen an uptick in robberies, particularly in Brooklyn Heights, dating back to early December.

► A man snatched a 58-year-old cabdriver’s Samsung Galaxy Note 4 from his hand around 9 p.m. on Jan. 9 near 100 Jay St. after the suspect approached the cab and told the driver, “I called you to pick me up,” police said. The driver said he hadn’t received a phone call and the suspect grabbed the phone and ran off.

► A 26-year-old woman was walking out of the York Street subway station just before 9 p.m. on Jan. 10 when a man slapped her Samsung Galaxy Note 4 out of her hand, pushed her away from the phone after it fell on the ground and fled with it, police said. 

► A woman was sitting on a northbound A train near the High Street subway station around 7 p.m. on Jan. 12 when a suspect wearing all red snatched her headphones off her head, police said.

► A man riding a bike grabbed another man’s Samsung Galaxy Note 4 as he was walking and texting near 108 Jay St. around noon on Jan. 13, police said. The suspect rode away with the cellphone.
