MIDTOWN — A would-be robber tried and failed to knock over a Chase Bank on Tuesday, according to a police report.

The man strolled into the Chase branch at 2 Park Ave., between East 33rd and East 34th streets, at about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday and handed the teller a note demanding money, police said.

Instead of complying, the teller, a 47-year-old woman, walked away from the window and the bandit fled the bank empty-handed, according to a police report.

Police described the suspect as a man in his 40s with a slight beard, standing about 5-feet-6-inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with a hood, gray sweatpants and latex gloves.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit tips on the website.
