Man Fatally Shot During Attempted Robbery in First Homicide of 2017: NYPD

SOUTH OZONE PARK — A gunman fatally shot one man and wounded his brother in an attempted robbery early Monday morning that marked the first homicide of 2017, police said.

The siblings were in front of 104-35 124th St. on Jan. 2 around 3:20 a.m. when a male suspect tried the rob them, the NYPD said.

During the confrontation, the suspect shot 31-year-old Rocky Kalisaran in the chest and his 24-year-old brother in the back, police said. 

Both were transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where Kalisaran, of Cypress Hills, was pronounced dead and his brother was listed in stable condition, police said.

The suspect fled the scene with an accomplice in a dark sedan, police added.

There had been no arrests as of Monday morning.
