WATCH: Brazen Thief Throws Sparks While Cutting Through Bike Lock

By Aidan Gardiner | December 30, 2016 1:28pm

BROOKLYN — A brazen and well-equipped thief sent sparks flying when he sawed through a lock to steal a bike Wednesday, according to the owner who posted video of the theft on Facebook in a bid to catch him.

In the 46-second video, the thief saunters up to the Cannondale Bad Boy bike which is chained to a waist-high metal gate on Bayard Street near Graham Avenue, swivels his head to spot any onlookers before taking the blade to the Kryptonite New York U-lock about 11 a.m.

Daniel Rash, says it's his $760 bike, posted the video to various groups on Facebook, hoping to find the thief.

"If you recognize this a--face, please send me a message," Rash wrote on an 8 a.m. Thursday post in the North Brooklyn Community group.

"Please share and spread the word," he added.

Rash, who didn't reply to a request for comment, said the bike had red petals with a red and black Fizik seat.

Police said they received a complaint about the theft and are investigating it.
