STATEN ISLAND — A man was fatally hit by an SUV as he tried to jaywalk in Tottenville on Tuesday night, NYPD officials said.
Ramone Fores, 33, was hit by a southbound Ford Escape as he tried to cross the street outside 225 Main St., near Bentley Lane, just minutes after 9 p.m., police said.
Fores, who lived around the corner on Bentley Lane, was pronounced dead at Staten Island University Hospital, police said.
The driver of the SUV, a 41-year-old woman, remained on the scene and wasn't immediately arrested or ticketed, police said.
