BROOKLYN — The charges against the driver who turned himself in Friday for the fatal hit-and-run that killed popular DJ Jinx Paul, have been dropped, a law enforcement source said.
Police said Kevin Ozoria, 27, of Washington Heights, walked into the NYPD’s 75th Precinct stationhouse on Friday and was charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death and tampering with physical evidence.
But the Brooklyn District Attorney dropped the charges, according to a law enforcement source, who said there was not enough evidence to prosecute Ozoria for the death of the DJ, whose real name was Jean Paul Guerrero.
Guerrero, who had finished DJing a party in East New York, was trying to get a cab back to his home in Harlem when he was fatally hit by a black four-door sedan while crossing Jamaica Avenue at approximately 4 a.m. Dec. 19, police said.
