Police Find Assault Rifle in Brooklyn Bust

FLATBUSH — Police arrested 10 people Tuesday after finding an assortment of guns, including a machine gun and an AK-47 assault rifle, ammunition and marijuana in two Brooklyn apartments.

Police said they searched the two apartments, at 149 Kenilworth Place and 109 East 51st St., after an ongoing investigation led them to pursue search warrants at the addresses.

The 10 people, between 16 years old and 58 years old, were hit with a number of possession of weapons charges.

The residents of 149 Kenilworth Place: Delores Amos, 58; Gwendolyn Edwards, 43: Issac Jordan, 24; Shamel Amos 29; and a 16-year-old resident were found with six guns, including a machine gun, marijuana and a bullet proof vest.

Others charged in the case were connected to the East Flatbush apartment, 109 East 51st St. — where three guns, marijuana and ammunitions were found. Those charged include Kelly Allen, 48; Daniella Downer, 30: Dean Young, 50; and Dashane Young, 20.

Police declined to comment as to how long the investigation was underway, or what prompted the investigation.

The Brooklyn District Attorney's office did not immediately respond to request for comment.
