New Yorkers have spoken loud and clear that if you're paying $8 for a chopped cheese sandwich, you're a sucker at best and a culture-appropriating Columbus wannabe at worst. But the question even the most fervent chopped cheese defenders can't always agree on: where to buy the best chopped cheese in the city?

The bodega staple, which consists of ground beef, onions, melted cheese and condiments on a hero roll, has popped up recently for distinctly un-bodega-like prices at upscale places like Whole Foods and White Gold, raising accusations of culinary “colonialism.”

According to legend (and the New York Times), the sandwich was originally the creation of Carlos Soto, a longtime deli man at Hajji’s deli at 110th Street and First Avenue in Harlem. But the cult favorite has since spread to delis across the city, and its popularity has sparked debate over where to score the best version.

So now DNAinfo is asking you to tell us on Neighborhood Square: who sells the best chopped cheese sandwich in NYC — and how much can you expect to pay for it? We'll release the winner soon.
