Man Throws Coffee at Woman After Telling Her He Hates Muslims, Police Say

By Ben Fractenberg | December 19, 2016 1:34pm

MIDTOWN — A homeless man was arrested after he told a woman he “hated Muslims” and then attacked her inside a Midtown Dunkin' Donuts Sunday, according to the NYPD.

Nathan Gray, 34, was charged with assault as a hate crime after he threw a cup of coffee at the woman and then put her in a headlock inside the West 35th Street eatery near Seventh Avenue at about 2:45 p.m. on Dec. 18, a police spokeswoman said.

“I’m a cop, I hate you and am going to kill you,” Gray also yelled at the victim, the spokeswoman added.

The woman refused medical attention at the scene and Gray was taken to the Midtown South Precinct, where he was charged with assault as a hate crime and aggravated harassment.

He did not have any prior arrests, the NYPD spokeswoman said.

Gray was expected to be arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court Monday.

There was no immediate information on his lawyer.
