BROOKLYN — A student lit a 17-year-old girl’s hair on fire inside a Brooklyn school Tuesday, police said.

The victim’s hair was burned while she was in class at Midwood High School a little after 9 a.m. She suffered burn wounds to her ear and was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to the NYPD.

The student who lit her hair on fire was taken into custody and there was no immediate information on charges. Police did not have further information about the suspect.

A Department of Education spokeswoman said EMS and NYPD “immediately responded” to the attack.

"Safety always comes first, and we are working in close partnership with the NYPD to swiftly address it," the spokeswoman added.
