BROOKLYN — A city correction officer was killed by an ex-boyfriend who was furious that she'd asked him to return her BMW, which he'd borrowed, after she split up with him, sources believe.

A manhunt has been on for the suspect, whose name is being withheld by police, since Alastasia Bryan, 25, was fatally shot by a hooded gunman.

The man pulled up to the driver's side of her new 2016 Nissan Infiniti, parked on East 73rd Street and Avenue L in Mill Basin at 9:19 p.m. on Dec. 4, and shot her five times.

Sources say Bryan, a rookie officer recently assigned to Rikers Island, had broken up with her boyfriend and demanded that he return her 2010 BMW, which she apparently turned in to get the new Infiniti.

“The guy was really pissed about her asking for the car back,” a source said, speculating that the request coupled with the breakup fueled his desire for revenge.

It is unclear how long the pair had dated or how they met, but sources say their relationship was not linked to her work with the city.

Investigators believe the suspect, and possibly an accomplice who drove a getaway car, have fled the city.

Last week, the NYPD released surveillance footage of the murder that showed the moment when Bryan, who correction union officials praised as a good officer, was murdered.

Bryan, who just completed her training last month, suffered wounds to her head and torso and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators are looking for two men in connection with the murder. They say both were wearing dark-colored clothing and fled in a gold or tan four-door Hyundai Elantra.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to the NYPD Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
