3 Suspects Beat Uber Driver and Steal His Car in Crown Heights, Police Say

CROWN HEIGHTS — Three suspects beat up an Uber driver and stole his car during a pickup on Schenectady Avenue, the NYPD said.

Police said the 33-year-old driver was supposed to pick up a fare at Schenectady and St. Marks avenues in Crown Heights at 4:00 a.m. on Nov. 27.

When the driver arrived at the location, he got into an argument with the three suspects — two men and a woman — who punched him in the face and body, police said.

The trio then fled with the cabbie's car, driving eastbound on Saint Marks Avenue.

The man suffered swelling to his left eye and was treated by medical personnel at the scene, police said.

All three suspects were described as between 25 and 30 years old, police said.

It's unclear whether the suspects were the intended passengers of the driver at the time of the robbery.

Uber has no record of the incident, a company spokesperson said.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at (800) 577-TIPS or for Spanish (888) 57-PISTA (74782).
