QUEENSBRIDGE — King of Falafel and Shawarma, a popular food vendor that's been serving up Middle Eastern eats in Astoria for more than a decade, is expanding to Long Island City in the coming months.

Owner Fares "Freddy" Zeideia said he plans to open his fourth mobile location on Crescent Street near 41st Avenue, which will operate seven days a week and even offer delivery nearby.

"Long Island City has so many new buildings out there," said Zeideia, adding that the truck will cater to the area's many office workers as well as locals, and will be open from around 10 a.m. into the late night hours.

It will be the first Long Island City location for the street vendor, who currently operates three other food truck or cart locations — on Ditmars Boulevard, 30th Avenue and one in Midtown — as well as a brick-and-mortar restaurant on Broadway and 31st Street that opened last year.

Zeideia said the truck is the first of what he hopes to be eventually be more than a dozen new locations in Queens, The Bronx, and even Long Island.

It will offer the same dishes as his current mobile locations, including his falafel, shawarma and grilled meat and rice platters, he said. He's shooting to open by the end of January, but said sometime in early 2017 is more likely.

"We'll try to get it before New Year's, but I doubt it," he said.
