By Aidan Gardiner | December 6, 2016 8:49am

QUEENS — A 72-year-old man was fatally struck by a taxi driver while trying to dash across the Grand Central Parkway late Monday night, NYPD officials said.

The man, whose name wasn't immediately released, suffered fatal head injuries when he was hit by the cab in the eastbound lane of the parkway, near Northern Boulevard, as he tried to cross from south to north, police said.

The Toyota Sienna yellow cab tried to swerve out of the way, but hit the man with the driver's side of the car, police said.

The man was pronounced dead at New York Hospital Queens, officials said.

The driver remained on the scene and wasn't immediately charged, police said.
