QUEENS — The state correction officers' union is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest of the gunmen who shot a prison guard and his wife in their Jamaica home Sunday night.

“We are shocked at the shooting of one of our most valued members and his wife," Michael Powers, president of the New York State Correctional Officers Police Benevolent Associations, said in a statement. “This level of violence, especially against a law enforcement member, cannot be tolerated.”

Two gunmen pushed their way into the home of 58-year-old Henry Wright, who has worked as a correction officer for 35 years, and his wife, Sharon Floyd-Wright, 52, on Mathias Avenue near 166th Street, around 7 p.m. on Nov. 27, police said.

The suspects shot Wright five times in the torso and legs, police said.

Floyd-Wright, who was shot in the shoulder, was able to whack one of the gunmen over the head with a hammer, sending the suspects fleeing, according to the NYPD.

The correction officers’ union said in an email Thursday that Wright "underwent surgery for his gunshot wounds and is still hospitalized in critical condition."

His wife, according to the union, was treated and has been released from the hospital.

Police said the gunmen, believed to be in their 20s or 30s, were wearing black hooded sweaters and blue jeans.

Earlier this week, investigators released surveillance images of a light-colored 2011 to 2015 Hyundai Elantra that they said was used as a getaway car.

The motive remains unclear, officials said.

"We will provide whatever support is necessary to the NYPD to catch the individuals responsible for this heinous act," Powers added. “It is our hope this reward encourages someone to come forward and provide information that leads to the arrest of these violent individuals.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
