FLATIRON — A new restaurant specializing in Hawaiian raw-fish salads known as poke (poh-kay) and sushi burritos opened on 26th Street near Madison Square Park Wednesday.

Raw tuna and salmon come as burritos, or on top of a bed of cucumber, onions and ginger at Maui Onion, a new sit-down eatery at 35 West 26th St. between Broadway and Sixth Avenue.

The menu consists of 12 different dishes with a base protein, including salmon, tofu, lemon-garlic chicken, shrimp, octopus and several types of tuna. All of them can be served as a salad, a rice bowl with white or brown rice, wrapped up as a burrito or served as tamaki — a cone-shaped sushi wrapped in seaweed.

Most of the entrees cost about $13, including the the spicy tuna with scallion, cucumber, hijiki, onion and pickled ginger; shrimp with mango, scallion, onion, cucumber and pickled ginger; or wasabi octopus with Serrano chili and seaweed salad.

For $20, diners can chow down on a meal of seared bluefin toro with garlic chips, scallion, cucumber, seaweed, shichimi and pickled ginger.

Juices on the menu, all of which go for $7.50, include a cactus pear and pineapple mix, one with kale, spinach and apple, and others. Infused teas, at $3.50 a pop, include lemon, lime, grapefruit and lemon-ginger.

The menu is a creation of  Il Ji Jung, who previously worked at Oiji in the East Village and Jungsik in TriBeCa. Jung was not immediately available for comment.

The restaurant, which offers seating at the bar or at a large communal table, is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
