LOWER EAST SIDE — A burglar snatched two electronic tablets from pizzeria Speedy Romeo early Tuesday morning — the third reported burglary incident to strike one of the eatery's locations since August of this year.
An employee unlocked the pizza joint at 63 Clinton St. at around 7 a.m. to prepare for the eatery's opening at noon, then forgot to lock the door behind him, according to a police report.
Around 20 minutes later, the same employee discovered that two of the restaurant's tablets, an iPad and a Samsung Galaxy tablet, were missing, police said.
The employee reviewed footage from the surveillance cameras and saw a man had strolled into the restaurant and taken the tablets from behind the counter, according to authorities.
The tablets are valued at around $150 apiece, according to a police report.
The burglary comes months after two August incidents at the pizzeria's Brooklyn location that resulted in a total of $4,000 snatched from the restaurant's safe.
A thief slid through a window at the eatery's Clinton Hill spot in the early morning hours of Aug. 6 and stole $1,000 from a safe in the basement.
Weeks later, between the night of Aug. 22 and the morning of Aug. 23, a thief crawled through a window that was left open at the same location and made off with $2,900 from the safe.
A representative for the restaurant was not immediately available for comment.
