WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A woman was fatally shot by her boyfriend in a murder-suicide in a Manhattan bedroom Monday night, NYPD officials said.

The 22-year-old woman was shot in the head by a 26-year-old man who then turned the gun on himself inside 719 W. 180th St., near Fort Washington Avenue, police said Tuesday.

Police found the pair, whose names were not immediately released, about 11:20 p.m. after getting a call of an assault there, officials said.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

It wasn't immediately clear what sparked the shooting, police said.

The gunman is from Chesterfield, Virginia, and has been arrested in that state five times on assault, gun and drug charges, an NYPD spokesman said.
