All aboard!
The New York City Transit Museum’s annual model train exhibit is up and running with numerous trains, subway lines and streetcars chugging along tracks that run between Grand Central and the North Pole.
The exhibit, a 34-foot, multi-level affair that includes subterranean platforms below a model of Grand Central, is celebrating the museum’s 40th anniversary. It's set up in Grand Central's annex which is off the station's main concourse in the Shuttle Passage.
The trains are courtesy of the model train company Lionel and the set and backdrop are designed by artist Julia Rothman, according to the museum.
Visitors have until Feb. 27 to check out the free exhibit, which is open from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
