Maybe their names should be “Lucky” and “Miracle.”
Two pit bulls have been adopted by a Forest Hills police officer after drivers spotted the pups roaming on the Grand Central Parkway early Monday morning, officials said.
The 112th Precinct received a 911 call about the dogs sometime after midnight, police said. When police officers Jason Crawford, Nicole Patwell, Laurence Winston and Frank Nappi arrived on the scene, they saw the animals running on the parkway around 64th Road, authorities said.
They were able to curb one of them immediately, but had to chase the second dog on the highway before they managed to catch it.
The precinct later tweeted about the "great job" the officers did in rescuing the canines.

It's unclear how the dogs made it onto the highway. Although they were found near the Underbridge Dog Run, they appeared to be stray, authorities said.
Police Officer Olivia Windisch of the 112th Precinct adopted both dogs, which are approximately 5 years old, local police officials said.
She has not named them yet, the precinct said Tuesday.
