An anti–Donald Trump rally at Grand Army Plaza eschewed angry chants and marching Sunday afternoon, with parents and children holding signs with messages of "love."

The rally, promoted to Facebook invitees with the message "I Support Love; I Reject Hate," was organized by author Fiona Maazel, who encouraged parents to bring their sons and daughters and hoist signs with positive messages.

"I want my daughter to know what positive resistance looks like," she said on Facebook. "And that we are going to be here for each other."

Drivers honked their horns along the busy streets as they were greeted by parents with children on their shoulders, holding up signs that said things like "Love Trumps Hate" and "Take Care of Each Other."

The families gathered about 9 a.m. with construction paper, glitter and other art supplies, taping signs to a nearby pole.

The event, attended by roughly 100 people, was just one of a few actions planned over the weekend protesting Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton on Election Day.

Eleven people were arrested Friday night in a march on Trump Tower in Midtown. Saturday night, protesters again marched against Trump as similar actions continued to spread across the country.

More protests were expected Sunday evening.
