BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — The commemorative doors of a Brooklyn Heights firehouse that lost eight men on Sept. 11, 2001 may be moved to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, officials said Tuesday.

The doors of Engine 205/Ladder 118, located at 74 Middagh St., features a memorial mural with an American flag, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Manhattan skyline and eight stars signifying the lost firefighters.

According to the 9/11 Museum, the artwork was painted by Kye Carbone, Kia Carbone and firefighter Frank Visco. The Brooklyn Eagle first reported the possible move.

While the museum doesn't have specific plans for the display, officials there are looking at next steps for making the piece a part of its collection, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.

FDNY spokesman Frank Dwyer said via email that the doors had been removed from the front of the firehouse, but "no determination on where, or if, it will be displayed has been made at this time."

The last run across the Brooklyn Bridge of the Ladder 118 rig carrying six doomed firefighters was captured in an iconic photo, the New York Daily News reported.
